Population: 90,221 as of July 2008

Geography and Climate: Tuscaloosa spans about 66.7 square miles that sit on the Black Warrior River. The geography of the area around Tuscaloosa is quite diverse, being hilly and forested to the northeast and low-lying and marshy to the southwest. The climate in Tuscaloosa is similar to most places in the South. The tropical climate of the near-by Gulf of Mexico directly affects our moist air and warm weather.

Attractions

Located directly across from Coleman Coliseum, the Paul W. Bryant Museum is filled with memorabilia and artifacts from past and present that show the rich tradition of the University of Alabama football program. Visit the Bryant Museum and see just one more reason why the University of Alabama is the place to be.

Tuscaloosa offers many other activities. For fun in the water you can visit Lake Tuscaloosa or the Black Warrior River where you can go for a joy ride on the Bama Belle. Also take a journey along the banks of the Black Warrior on our newly resurrected Riverwalk. For leisure activities we have three malls to offer and for your viewing pleasure there are the Cobb 16 Theaters. In downtown Tuscaloosa there are many little shops and fine dining options at your dispense. Also, take a trip across the Black Warrior River Bridge down Lurleen B. Wallace Drive and take a trip back in time to discover Historic Downtown Northport. For your nightlife activities feel free to visit The Strip just off the U of A campus or go just a mile or two off campus and enjoy the area known as Temerson Square.
